Trotter Calls Clayton’s Edmond Heatley And Other Roaming Superintendents “Gypsy Superintendents,” “Educational Sluts”

Note:  The comments before are what Dr. John Trotter, Chairman of the Metro Association of Classroom Educators (MACE), said on his Facebook account today about a story that ran in today’s Clayton News/Daily.  Trotter is not known for holding his tongue when asked what he thinks, especially about school superintendents.  He calls the roaming superintendents who traipe all over the country  “Gypsy superintendents” and “educational sluts.”

I guess that the reporter got the drift of what I said yesterday when she called me to ask my opinion about Clayton County’s superintendent Edmond Heatley’s recent attempt to get on with the Dallas, Texas school board.  She got the drift of what I said but, as is par for the car, she did not quote me accurately.  She wanted to know if I was surprised that Heatley tried to leave Clayton County.  I was not.  I have dealt with about 11 or 12 superintendents in Clayton County these past 30 years, and, in my opinion, Heatley is rock bottom.  He’s a terrible superintendent, with the personality to match!  I think that he and the Romain Dallemand cat down in Bibb County are almost like two peas in a pod.  Ha!

For the record (isn’t it great to have Facebook, a dozen blogs, your own website, etc. to correct reporters’ misquotes?), here is what I said when she asked me if I was surprised that Heatley tried to leave Clayton County:  “No, because this is what most Gypsy superintendents (or ‘educational sluts,’ as I call them) do.  They jump from one school board bed to another, depending on what the school boards pay them.”  Now, this is from the horse’s mouth.  It is almost comical how reporters get the quotes all mangled up, and I even repeat my quotes later at a very slow pace and ask the reporters sometimes to repeat it back to me.  They still mess of the quotes (and I know that they are calling me for juicy quotes).  I even try to tell to tell the young reporters where to place the commas because sometimes the placement of commas can change the meaning of a sentence.  For real.

Anyway, I just looked online.  Here is the article.
